Annette Obrestad is a name to remember because in the next few years Annette is going to be one of, if not the biggest name in professional poker. At only twenty years of age, she already has one World Series of Poker bracelet to her name and winnings in excess of $2.5 million.

A Natural Born Online Poker Player

Norwegian born Obrestad began her poker career at age 15 playing online in freeroll tournaments ecause her mother wouldn't let her borrow her credit card to deposit money into the account. After 2 years of playing online, she was frequently seen at the top of tournament scoreboards and had won numerous $100 buy-in events.

At 18 Annette became the youngest ever winner of a WSOP bracelet. She is considered by many as one of the best, if not the best online poker player of all-time.

In one tournament, she even covered her cards on the screen for the whole event basing her bets on other players behaviour, and ended up beating the 180 opponents to finish in 1st place.

Breaking Poker Records

Transitioning from online to live poker, Annette didn't grab attention at first, but in 2007 at age 18 (well almost 19 as it was a day before her birthday) she blew away the poker world by winning the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe Main Event, breaking several records such as the highest single payout to a female player and the youngest player ever to win a WSOP bracelet.

Obrestad continues to play in online tournaments and beat the field, including taking first place in the Ultimate Bet 100k GTD tournament.

Vegas Beckons Soon

As she is still not 21 years old, competing in the big name tournaments in Las Vegas is not yet an option, but watch out poker world because Annette's 21st birthday is in September this year and I'm sure we will be up for a treat with some incredible poker action at the table.
