Know as one of the first women of poker, Cyndy Violette made a name for herself in the 80's as a successful female player in a man's game. Starting off in the industry as a blackjack and poker dealer, Cyndy decided to try her luck on the other side of the table and began playing low stakes games.
In 2004 I achieved one of my dreams. I won the 7 card stud high-low tournament of the World Series of Poker. I am proud of my World Series bracelet and the title as Poker champion.
In 1984 she started playing tournament poker and entered herself into the Lake Tahoe Amarillo Slim's Super Bowl of Poker where she cashed and decided to pursue poker as a career.
Taking it to the Men of Poker
Later that year at a tournament in Las Vegas, she stunned many by winning the seven-card stud event and taking home the biggest cash prize by a woman at the time, earning $74,000.
A Female Poker Success Story
The high point of her career came in 2004 where Violette won a the seven card stud high low split tournament at the World Series of Poker and took home her first bracelet. The following year she came close to repeating her success in the no-limit hold'em event however she was denied the victory by Erik Seidel.
Cyndy Violette's Lifestyle
Away from the poker table, Cyndy is a devoted vegan and focuses on living a spiritual and healthy life. She has even been seen showing up to events in her yoga gear eating home cooked vegetarian meals at the table and sitting with her spirit stones on the felt.
She also enjoys reading about Feng Shui and Kabbalah and in the future she plans on opening a vegetarian health food store, cafe and bookstore in Las Vegas.
